Sohreyan Da Pind Aa Gaya Movie Review : With the sweetness of love and spices of revenge, it is a perfect recipe for entertainment

Set in the 90s, ‘Ghund Kadh Le Ni Sohreyan Da Pind Aa Gaya’ is the story of Raje and Rupi. These two are madly in love, just inseparable from each other. He dreams of bringing her home as a wife, and she can’t wait to call his ‘pind’ as her ‘sohreyan da pind’. And fortunately, Rupi’s wish comes true as well, a proposal is sent to her home from Raje’s village, but the groom to be is not Raje; it turns out that it is Raje’s cousin brother Jass. Heartbroken Raje first tries to bury his pain in alcohol and sad songs, but after seeing Rupi moving on, he goes on a revenge spree. He promises Rupi that he will also get married, and that too to a girl from her village only. And from there starts the never-ending war of two lovers who earlier were ready to lose anything in love, and now they were not prepared to lose to each other at any cost.

Sargun Mehta and Gurnam Bhullar as Rupi and Raje have once again proved that it is hard to beat their on-screen chemistry. The kind of innocence and purity of emotions they bring on the screen through their love and romance is as sweet as honey. They paint a picture of a perfect love that you see only in novels.

However, what is a love story without some bumps, and the only bump in their tale is making sure that their parents agree to their wedding. Now Raje is all confident that by hook or by crook he will be able to get his parents’ approval, but Rupi not so much. And though Raje gets success in doing his part, fate turns things upside down. From there begins their quarrels and bickering, which to be honest are the main USP of the movie.

We would not lie, we were rooting for Raje and Rupi in the beginning, but when they started to fight, we enjoyed it all the more. Raje does everything possible to find a suitable girl for marriage from Rupi’s village and she applies every trick from the book to ensure that no family in their right mind agrees to his proposal.

On one hand, where we thoroughly enjoyed Sargun and Gurnam’s performance as heartbroken rivals, on the other hand, we have to appreciate the writer Amberdeep Singh as well for the hysterical lines and punches.

Pollywood is famous for situational comedy, it is known for its one-liners and Amberdeep knows exactly how to play on the turf of a rom-com. Further, Ksshitij Chaudhary as the captain of the ship also did great work in directing every sequence in a way that leaves the audience laughing in their seats.

However, it is not only the work of the writer-director and the main lead which made the movie a total entertainer. They have to share the credit and crown with every supporting actor in the film. Also, a special mention of Mintu Kappa who played the role of a friend who never leaves your side, and Hardeep Gill who essayed the character of a worried but super supportive father is a must. The two were very effortless with their craft and were able to keep the audience glued to their seats with their work.

Now coming to the music of the movie, without a doubt it was another feather in the hat. Not a single song looked placed incorrectly; in fact, the tracks emoted the unsaid emotions.

Having said that, there were a couple of things that did bother us a little. On top of the list is the length of the movie. The movie starts at a very nice pace and maintains a good speed until the first half. But after the interval, things look a little stretched in places. However, the tightly packed punches of the script helped a lot in beating any dull moment.

Secondly, the climax of the movie was great but the ending seemed a bit predictable and abrupt at the same time. But if we ignore these two things, then all we have to say is that it is a hilarious love-revenge story that will give you a good dose of laughter.
