Script
And
Direction
Milind
Rau,
the
director
has
succeeded
in
creating
a
highly
engaging,
edge-of-the-seat
thriller
with

Netrikann,
which
is
an
official
adaptation
of
the
South
Korean
film

Blind.
With
a
fast-paced
narrative,
excellent
performances
by
the
star
cast,
and
top-notch
technical
aspects,
the
Nayanthara
starrer
emerges
as
a
satisfying
watch.
Most
of
the
characters
are
neatly
flushed-out,
and
there
are
some
very
well-written
scenes
that
evoke
a
plethora
of
emotions
in
the
viewers.
However,

Netrikann
is
not
a
flawless
film.
The
movie
loses
its
grip
when
it
comes
to
the
development
of
its
antagonist
character.
The
antagonist
is
introduced
within
a
few
minutes
into
the
film,
and
it
works
in
this
cat
and
mouse
game.
However,
things
go
downhill
with
the
revelation
of
the
character’s
back
story
which
turned
out
quite
amateurish.
The
bizarre
plot
twist
also
made
no
impact.
Netrikann
is
an
‘A’ certificate
film
that
has
some
real
violent
sequences,
which
might
make
a
certain
group
of
audiences
uncomfortable.
This
Nayanthara
starrer
also
leaves
some
loose
ends,
that
needed
to
be
addressed.
However,
these
minor
flaws
do
not
prevent

Netrikann
from
emerging
as
an
engaging
thriller
that
stays
true
to
its
genre.
Performances
Nayanthara
once
again
proves
her
mettle
as
an
actor
with
her
brilliant
performance
as
Durga.
The
lady
superstar
has
delivered
a
balanced
performance
that
conveys
the
right
emotions
effectively,
without
going
over
the
top.
Her
combination
scenes
with
the
guide
dog
Kanna
is
an
absolute
treat
to
watch.
Ajmal
Ameer,
who
plays
the
lead
antagonist
is
decent
at
most
of
the
portions
but
falters
when
it
comes
to
conveying
intense
emotions.
Manikandan
and
Sharan
Shakti,
who
appears
as
SI
Manikandan
and
Gautham,
have
played
their
parts
to
near
perfection.
Technical
Aspects
RD
Rajasekhar,
the
senior
cinematographer
has
created
a
perfect
backdrop
for
the
crime
thriller
with
his
exceptional
visualisation.
Girrish
Gopalakrishnan,
the
music
composer
scores
with
a
decent
background
score
and
the
beautiful
‘Idhuvum
Kadandhu
Pogum’
song.
Verdict
Netrikann
is
an
engaging
thriller
that
stays
true
to
its
genre.
Despite
the
minor
flaws,
the
movie
emerges
as
an
effective
watch,
thanks
to
the
power-packed
performances
of
leading
lady
Nayanthara
and
the
supporting
cast.
