Kalaripayattu Workshop with Jayachandran Nair in Kolkata

Kalaripayattu Workshop with Jayachandran Nair

arshinagar logoKalari – A Complete System for Body, Mind and Soul:

After a successful ten-day introductory workshop in March, the group is happy to have Shri Jayachandran Nair, renowned master of the southern style of Kalaripayattu, back in Kolkata between May 19th and 28th. Originating in Kerala, Kalaripayattu is one of the world’s most ancient martial arts systems, and the forerunner of Wu-shu and other Chinese martial arts forms. Today though, it is hardly known in other parts of India, though it has found wide acceptance in the west. Not only is Kalari a great way to achieve overall fitness, but it goes much beyond and creates a complete awareness of body, mind and spirit.

arshinagar logoIn order to create greater awareness of this form in Kolkata, The Arshinagar Project has invited Shri Jayachandran Nair, one of the most renowned masters of the southern style of Kalaripayattu, to conduct a ten-day introductory workshop. Shri. Nair has taught widely in India and Europe and has initiated actors, dancers and others to this ancient martial arts form.
